Blog on hold
It occured to me the other day that this blog of mine is all self gratifying nonsense at the moment and will probably remain so until the book comes out when, maybe, with a bit of luck, people might read the book and visit the website and catch the link to this blog and then a few aspiring writers might start asking questions about writing and at that point the blog can carry out its function, as a blog about writing for writers and everybody will be happy, least of all me. The thought came like that, quickly, without punctuation...just a carousel of realisations...and so this blog is on hold until October...unless I get a comment to respond to...

Danny the best of luck with your novel. But a word of warning. You offer to help aspiring writers on your blog but you may well receive a zillion questions - aspiring writers can be like leeches and the smaller the talent the greater the leeching-capacity. The talented tend to get on with it.
Also, I see from your website that you are offering a lot of help to schools etc. I do this as tgree of my books are set for GCSE and A level. Another warning - they will be even more leech-like ! You have to be tough. I get about 400-600 e-mails a week during the busy parts of the term - October/November when they get the set books and again April when they are panicking about exams - a steady 200 the rest of the time. I don`t mind but at least three quarters of them want me to do their work for them - literally. And a lot of the others ask questions they could easily find the answers to if they tried. Some are badly taught but trying - they are the ones who are most rewarding and need help most. With this and putting up questions and answers and work on the websites, it takes up a lot of time - you need to pace yourself or you will find you get no time to write. And you should.
Oh, and don`t forget to enjoy it all !

Thanks for the advice. It's appreciated and I'll take it on board. I can't imagine anywhere near that amount of people being interested in what I have to say though!!!

See now look, I've taken the trouble to find what I reckon would be a great blog and what do I find? "gone fishing"
This won't do, blog immediately or the rest of us may as well pack up our self gratifying nonsense too.
