Further Submissions

One short story to a horror magazine and one children's novel to a new independent publisher this week.

About six more short stories at various stages of completion. I need to get them out of my system and then perhaps its time to start looking at getting on with another novel.

A Writer's Life

2011. A new year, a clean slate, what to write?

With the supernatural thriller I wrote last year currently doing the rounds of publishers and having no clue as to its prospects, I've started 2011 by continuing to follow the mantra of 'something every day'.

So, in the mornings before my day job, this is what I've been up to.

Monday - Edit two short fiction pieces aimed at women's fiction market

Tuesday - Ditto

Wednesday - Complete edits, write submission letter, send

Thursday - Answer e-mail from a fellow writer looking for advice regarding the submission process; arrange meeting with another fellow writer to discuss the writing life; answer e-mail from local Society of Authors group about attending the next meeting; begin outlining an idea for a novel about the internet

Friday - Meet fellow author; edit two horror stories aimed at UK/US horror market with a view to completing and sending off next week
